Welcome to Nevsky Prospect.

In our town, noses escape their faces, your rank is judged by the coat you wear and dogs sing love songs. Here, time is ruled by the law, but kept by a clock-keeper who wants to get the girl.

A father of Russian realism and satire, writer Nikolai Gogol was a master of comedy and obsurdity. His tales, “Diary of a Madman,” “The Overcoat,” and “The Nose” are melded into Rogue Artists Ensemble’s new Hyper-theatrical production Gogol Project. Combining puppetry, masks, and digital projection, audiences are vaulted deep into the grotesque and whimsical world of Gogol’s stories, featuring songs and score by Ego Plum.

About Kitty Felde -
Kitty Felde is an award-winning public radio reporter, but she's also been honored for her playwriting. Her Bosnian war crimes play A Patch of Earth won the Maxim Mazumdar New Play Competition. Felde's one-woman show about Teddy Roosevelt´s daughter, Alice, premiered at The National Theatre in Washington, D.C., and played at New York City´s Miranda Theatre. She's co-founder of Theatre of Note and a member of the Dramatists Guild. This is the first time she's written for talking dogs and dancing chairs.

About Ego Plum -

Composer and artist Ego Plum has waged a war against the modern conventions of popular music utilizing an arsenal of unconventional influences: The cartoon jazz and spastic stop & go arrangements of RAYMOND SCOTT and CARL STALLING, the ground-breaking New Wave of OINGO BOINGO, DEVO, & B-52'S, the haunting film scores of ANGELO BADALAMENTI, BERNARD HERMMANN, & DANNY ELFMAN, and the melodic pop sensibilities of XTC, the BEATLES and BEACH BOYS.

Through several critically-acclaimed CD releases on his own imprint, and as musical director of his own 10-piece group (THE EBOLA MUSIC ORCHESTRA), EGO PLUM has continued to push the boundaries of music by creating cinematic compositions with a carnival-esque & surrealist sensibility that are simultaneously unclassifiable and of the pop stratum. BIG TAKEOVER MAGAZINE described his latest album with the Ebola Music Orchestra to be "as poignant as it is absurd," and AMPLIFIER MAGAZINE claimed, "there is no place in a record store where it fits."

2008 will find EGO PLUM leaving the confines of the underground music scene and bringing his unorthodox sound to the most popular children's entertainment brand on the planet: NICKELODEON, composing the score "MAKING FIENDS."

THE NO ONE WAY DÉRIVE PROJECT: THE ASSIGNMENT

DÉRIVE... WHAT IS IT?

From the French dériver, meaning to drift, the dérive (pronounced "day-REEV") was conceived by a Frenchman named Guy Debord in the late 1950s.  According to Debord, during a dérive "one or more persons during a certain period of time drop their relations, their work and leisure activities, and all their other usual motives for movement and action, and let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there."  Put more simply by writer Joseph Hart, dérives and the theories and practices surrounding them are "a whole toy box of playful, inventive strategies for exploring cities... just about anything that takes pedestrians off their predictable paths and jolts them into a new awareness of the urban landscape."

*In Development:  Audrey is in rehearsals for a new play not yet titled written by the very talented Jimmy Lyons.  It is a show about the ups and downs of relationships marked with high comedy.

*Women Who Act:  In her spare time she has co-founded an organization called Women Who Act. This November her group orchestrated a fundraiser party for a fellow artist and raised enough money to pay for a few months of her class tuition so she can continue to study her craft regardless of her current financial bind. This October Audrey and her friends will be joining West Hollywood in the Aids Walk. To learn moore please see charity work.
